Nature Class

Back in the day, I took Max to all kinds of nature classes when he was preschool age. Butterflies, Honeybees, Owls, Beavers, Frogs, you name it. We signed up for them all. Or at least it seemed so.

Mini, on the other hand, went to her first nature class on Friday. I was constantly on the lookout when Max was little (we NEEDED to get out of the house everyday) and we had the most wonderful and free schedule (I’m sure it felt busy at the time) to take advantage of them.

But now, it’s harder to fit a class into our week and even harder, it seems, to remember to register by the deadline.

I’m notorious for getting excited about a class that happened yesterday.

But for this one, I not only signed up on time, I had the forethought to call a friend and see if her girls wanted to join us.

We had lots of fun learning about beavers and how they communicate. Did you know they smack their tails on the surface of the water to warn their family of a nearby predator?

Just a little fun fact. You’re so welcome.

And now for some pictures. We had a lively discussion followed by a hike in the woods to see if they’ve been chomping on trees, and then returned to do a craft.

Any guesses to what kind of track that was?

Finding where the beavers have nibbled away the trees.

  1. Thanks Anna for thinking of us for such a great activity! We had such a good time. I especially was appreciative that you took all four of the girls on the hike by yourself!!! 🙂
