Sincere Thoughts on Being a Mom

It Rained and Poured for 5 Days-eez Days-eez

I don’t want to complain about the rain because I know they could use it right now in Texas.  But cats and dogs, along with loud thunder, for four days straight is getting old here in Maryland.

Our neighborhood looks like this.

Fortunately, that’s not a road that we need to drive on.  It’s the walking path around the lake behind our row of townhouses.

The lake that, from the latest storm that came through today, has expanded in size.

You can get some perspective for how deep the water is in this next picture:

Those are three picnic tables (or the tops of three picnic tables, anyway).

So, how have we managed to not go stir crazy this week?  Well, the answer is, we haven’t.  I think the answer became clear right about the time that a loud clap of thunder woke Mini up from her nap and I shouted “noooooooooooooooooo” and fell on my knees.

She hadn’t napped all week, until today.  And she was asleep for hmmm, maybe 15 minutes.  Last night she was up in the middle of the night too.

It’s been a long week.

And I desperately need to see the sun shine.

  1. Isn’t it crazy how it’s either feast or famine? Flood or drought? There doesn’t seem to be any in-between. Sheesh! 🙂

  2. Hope y’all have been able to put up the gopher wood by now. 🙂 We sure would love it if y’all could’ve shared some of it. There have been so many wildfires this past week–scary, scary stuff.

Watch out for displaced snakes after all that rain!

  3. Oh how I would love to send u some sun for some of that wet stuff…what do u call that again? Our ground is sooooooo dry. I had a student lose a shie in a crack and it went down almost three feet. I could not save the shoe!!!!!
