Thank you for your comments about the gifts that Mini’s birth mom sent to us. She amazes me, really. In fact, her whole family blesses me. I’m so thankful that we were able to get to know them in the way we did.
They were easy people to get to know. Funny. Warm. Kind. Sensitive. We hung out at their house watching American Idol, went places together around town, and just sat in the living room telling stories. A. has two younger sisters who are very close in age with one another and look like twins. Most of the hilarious family anecdotes involve this pair so we got to know a whole lot about them. They are wonderful girls and Max, especially, misses them because he had a blast with them.
They loved on Max so much and they were very helpful during the times when he needed to be entertained. He adores this whole family and just today I heard him tell Mini in the car, “remember your birth family? They love you so much.” Awww.
I forgot to tell you the other day that there was another present in the box. It was a painting from one of A’s sisters that she did for Mini. And I hear that she’s been cleaning out her room and thought Max would like to receive a few of her old Spider-Man toys. He’ll be so excited to get those!
A’s sister has always been a huge Spider-Man fan. So much so, in fact, that there were bursts of giggles when Mike and I first met the family over dinner in January. So many people say that Mike resembles Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker in the Spider-Man movies. Maybe that’s why we were a good adoption match?? Sure, why not. Thanks, Mike!
Speaking of that! Did I ever tell you how when Mike went on a missions trip with our church to Indonesia, young girls followed him around with their cameras because he looked like Peter Parker? Plus he was carrying a guitar case around. They totally thought he was an American movie star (since all superhero movie stars carry guitars wherever they go). Hee hee, it still makes me laugh thinking about it.
Let’s take a look here and see if there really is a resemblance.
What do you think?
