Blueberries

We ventured out to pick blueberries today at our local orchard.  The heat and humidity made today’s trip a short one, but it was still lots of fun.

After a little research, I noticed something.  I’m wearing the same shirt that I wore blueberry picking two years ago.

That’s what fashion experts call a consistent look!

My grandmother passed away nearly 7 years ago and the last time I was in New Mexico was for her funeral.  It was just a week before Max was born.  Mike and I talked every year about taking a trip out West to see my grandpa but one excuse after another kept us home.  7 [...]

A little birdie told us that one of our Jr. Highers was going to be dressed up in a hand-stitched colonial costume at an 18th Century Market Fair on Saturday and had to stay in character while working the Corn Husk Doll booth.  That meant only one thing.  We had to drive down to Virginia [...]

For the Love of Dessert

Last week we had a nice dinner with my dad and Barbara.

We strongly believe in dessert in our family.  Mini loooved the cheesecake.
P.S.  The cake I told you about, the one I won’t mention or show again I promise, was a big hit with the jr. highers.  I kept it hidden until the end of [...]

A day with Nana at the circus was the tops.

St. Patrick’s Day inspired us to try a science experiment to see if we could dye white carnations green.  It didn’t work but a vase full of green water on the table all week was cool to some.

My dad is retiring after 34 years of service for the federal government as a nuclear physicist.  I’d like you to know how proud I am of him.
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission was founded in January 1975.  I know how to grab your attention with a sentence like that, huh?  Stay with me.
Two weeks later they made [...]

How was your Christmas?  We are home from a wonderful visit down in Arkansas with Mike’s side of the family.  Max and Mini were loved on constantly and I got to sit in a recliner and eat Aunt Sharon’s chocolate cookies.
The crutches stayed home.  It was a risky decision but a good one.  Or so [...]

Thankful

I’m sitting here in my pajamas with pruny hands from cleaning bathrooms.  The rest of the house is still neglected, but the apple crisp is in the oven, Mini is napping, and Mike and Max are playing flag football with church friends.  The house is quiet.
An hour ago, it was not.  Mini was standing at [...]

Camp Cousin

We had such a busy and fun weekend! My sister and her four kids drove up from North Carolina on Thursday and Max was so excited to see his cousins.  We went downtown on Friday and walked a hundred miles, underestimating – as usual – the amount of work it takes to escort six kids [...]
