Hi, I’m Anna. These kids you see here are such a blessing to me.
I am a proud adoptive mom to “Max” (our spirited and funny 9 year old) and “Mini” (our 4 year-old firecracker). Those aren’t their real names but Max’s motto is “go big or go home” and Mini is just that, little. I guess you could say the nicknames fit perfectly at this stage in life.
I am a homeschool mom and my husband, Mike, is a youth pastor. We live in the Washington DC area. God has built our family through open adoption, and He has given us a story to share about trusting in His timing. We waited only three weeks for Max but almost three years for Mini.
In 2007, the year that I started this blog, we experienced devastating losses when two different adoption plans fell through. Blogging through the healing process was a blessing I never expected. In addition to the love and support of my real-life friends and family I now had new blogging friends who jumped right in to offer kindness and prayers. This is what got me through one of the hardest times of waiting I’ve ever experienced.
And that’s what made sharing about Mini’s adoption all the more sweet. I loved having the chance to blog all about it!
If you’re interested in reading some more about her adoption, click here to read about when her birth parents chose us and here for a post I wrote on the emotional day we brought her home from the hospital.
Now I write about the stuff that just happens in everyday life. There’s never a dull moment! Usually my posts are lighthearted and feel-good in nature because that’s where my comfort level is here on the internet.
Thanks for reading. Be sure to introduce yourself sometime by leaving a comment or sending me a private email (click on Email Me). If you’re in the adoption process, I’d love to hear your story and be someone who could encourage you and lift you up in prayer.
Sincerely,
Anna

Anna,
I’m discovering why Amber is so fond of you. What a nice sense of humor you possess, and great perspective about things. God is SO good to us. You are VERY blessed twice, I see. I just can’t believe you were here in Colorado and I didn’t know it! We live just 40 min from the airport! If you ever make it back, we would be delighted to have you all! Thanks for sharing.
Hi. Adoptive mama of two here, also in open adoptions (well, one is more open than the other).
Off to read your other links. Happy Valentine’s Day!
Hi Anna,
Thank you for creating such a heartfelt adoption blog, that I’m sure many prospective and current adoptive families will find helpful and comforting.
I was sorry to read about your disruptions, but as I hear from so many other adoptive parents who also suffered disruptions, they are all 100 percent certain that the right child found its way home, and the disruption was just another step in the journey to finding that child.
Anyway, thanks for being such a great adoption advocate, and I’ll be keeping an eye on your blog
