Jennifer at Conversion Diary (an intriguing blog I just started reading) is hosting a carnival called 7 Quick Takes Friday.
My Quick Takes today are:
1. I’m borrowing a laptop to use in the kitchen and it has seriously kept me out of an institution these past few weeks. Since I broke my foot, (which was 7 weeks 4 days ago, but I’m sure you’re keeping track. What else would you be doing?) I have pretty much stayed on the main floor of our townhouse from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. That’s two rooms of noisy toys, high energy toddling and zigzagging kids, and falling sofa cushion/blanket forts. There is the bonus of a small bathroom but it has no window from which to escape. There is no TV on this floor, either. All this to say, since the laptop was generously lent to us, I am grateful for a connection to the outside world and won’t need an involuntary stay at the mental ward (yet).
2. Now I want to purchase a laptop for the kitchen. What kind should Mike surprise me with? Hmm?
3. I haven’t made the guacamole yet but I did put the avocados in a brown paper bag to ripen and they are now ready. This will be my first time making guac! Big night for me
4. I go back to the podiatrist on Monday to have another x-ray. I hope the bone is healing like it should. It still hurts a lot and it’s nearly impossible to sleep in the boot, by the way, but I do try. But how can anyone sleep, let alone someone who hirkey kicks while she is dreaming, in an UGH boot and function the next day?
5. Mini is taking lots and lots of steps and she’s so proud of herself! I’ll post a video clip this weekend – it’s so cute.
6. I’m taking her to get her one-year portraits tomorrow. She’s going to be wearing her Adoption Day dress and I’ll cry like a baby. But I’m so, so looking forward to it (mostly because I haven’t been out of the house since Sunday.
7. We’re watching the last episodes of Lost: Season 4 on Netflix this weekend. How much do we love Netflix? A lot. What movies or TV series do you recommend for our queue?

Oh we’ll praying for your appointment on Monday. I think you are doing a great job of remaining a sane mommy and wife. I would have been either institutionalized or shot by now. And woo hoo for the laptop!
p.s. Have a great weekend!
Man, I’m sure you are sick of the ugh boot. Hope you get some good news at your appt.
I just found conversiondiaries this week too – I love her site! It’s very thought provoking.
Did you get your scrapbooking weekend?
I want to know what you are planning on putting in that guac? I like to consider myself a Guac Connoisseur!
I hope your appointment goes well. I also hope that the 1 year photo session went well!!
For Netflix:
Firefly (the series; start with the beginning movie, then there’s a ‘final’ movie….sniff)
If you’re a SciFi fan, and haven’t watched the series, Battlestar Gallactica (the new series) is ending this month, you could watch it from the beginning
Brothers and Sisters is a cute, sometimes light hearted and other times ‘real’ series
That’s it off the top of my head….
We just watched “The Music Within” from Netflix. It was a great movie. We never thought we would like Netflix but we got a 6 month subscription for Christmas and have been enjoying soooo many movies!
Praying that your foot is healing!
Hi! guacamole essentials are salt, lime juice, cilantro. tomatoes are optional. just add a little of everything and keep tasting until it seems right, then taste some more. and yes, i find it easy eat a whole bowl of guac too!
we are watching The Pretender, a good TV series. Also, Early Edition is a favorite.
Enjoy, Enjoy!
Check out the John Adams HBO miniseries. We REALLY liked it, and it was not very HBOish at all–which was nice.
I love series on Netflix. Have you heard of MI-5? It’s really, really good if you like spy suspense in the vein of 24. It’s a BBC series.
Is your head spinning from LOST? Lots of questions have been answered, but there are plenty of new ones too. Plus my brain hurts from all the time travel…hope I don’t get a nosebleed!
