Emily asks, “I hope this isn’t too personal. Did you always know you wanted to adopt (even before learning that you weren’t able to become pregnant)?”
Nope, not too personal at all. I’m not really sure if I wanted to adopt or if I just admired people who adopted but I’ve always decidedly felt that adoption was wonderful. It’s not like I grew up wanting to adopt no matter what, though. However, it was pretty early on when Mike and I started dating that we talked about marriage, family, and what-happens-if-we-can’t-have-children. We talked about adoption and both of us felt the same way. I didn’t realize back then that not every couple is on the same page about adoption. Now, heh-heh, open adoption took some convincing on my part (or do you say his part? Whatever – I mean I had to convince him). That’s another story altogether.
Keep the questions coming, this is fun! (can you tell my big Friday night plans are blogging? this is what my life has come to)

You are so amazing Anna! Thanks for sharing your thoughts/answers on open adoption. I have always wanted to adopt a baby–and hearing about your experience has solidified my desire to do so. I’ve talked with my husband about adoption and he’s open to it as well–but I’m scared that it might be all talk and “no action.” I’m still young and have many years to decide if we want to adopt if we can’t have anymore on our own–but if we do, I will always remember you and your story!
Thanks for answering.
I believe God often lays ideas on our hearts well in advance of particular situations. I believe many people have a heart for adoption from childhood! Your blog is so encouraging and refreshing!
Your path is so inspirational. Thank you for sharing your journey…
Hi Anna,
I think I got to your blog from Beth at Ishouldbefoldinglaundry, and I’m not really sure how I even started reading hers. I check in on your page regularly and your blogging has kept me mesmerized. I am curious to know if Mini’s birth parents might ever allow you to post a picture of them? Your children are beautiful and I honestly say that you inspire me for homeschooling. Being a mom to 4, I dont know how I could ever even consider doing it. I just dont seem to have that kind of patience.
