She’s Here And She’s Beautiful

I’m so excited to be writing this post. Baby was born this morning at 7:33 a.m., weighing 5 lbs 14.5 oz and 19 1/2 inches long. She is a dainty little one. It was love at first sight.

I’ll tell you later about all the details. I only have a few minutes to write this post, but here are the highlights.

Everything is going very well.

Our first moments together, when we came in the hospital room, were quiet. Everyone in the room was exhausted but welcomed us with open arms and big smiles. I held Baby first, then Mike, then Max. Max got to hold her the longest. He was as sweet as can be. He loves her hair. There is a lot of it to love! It spikes up and is so cute.

The hospital is so awesome. Brand new. The staff is really nice. When we came in my knees were weak and my voice was shaky. The nurses knew exactly who we were and escorted us to the room.

They made a room available to me. I will take care of Baby tonight in a private room right across the hall from A. I can’t wait, but I am trying not to scoot out prematurely. This is A’s time right now. I feel that it’s safe. I’m soaking in the images of her being held by her birth mom. I’m taking pictures.

I will post some tomorrow, hopefully. And I’ll try to gather my thoughts to write more about the whole day.

Oh, by the way, birthmama and baby are both doing really well. No concerns at all. Baby got the hang of feeding and nearly finished her 30ml bottle for the first time just an hour ago or so. J. fed her and I took pictures.

I’ll get to feed her at 11 p.m. And 2 a.m. And 5 a.m…

Can’t wait.

As the mother of five adopted children I just relived the excitement of all of our adoptions. I have been following your story with anticipation. Congratulations!! God’s timing is always best isn’t it? I am very happy for you and your family. She is joining a wonderful family.
